What is Astrology?

Each of us is born at a moment in time, in a particular place, while the planets are making aspects to one another creating a distinct map of the solar system called the birth chart.  The birth chart, as a map of the soul, expresses each person’s uniqueness, describing the energy that makes each of us an individual with personality traits, deeper purposes, gifts and challenges. The understanding of astrology gives us the opportunity to discover and strive toward our fullest potential while living through the processes symbolized by the planets as they revolve around our sun.

People have always looked to the stars and planets for clues about the happenings on earth.    As humanity evolved, so has the study and practice of astrology.   Today we combine the study of astrology with metaphysics and psychology creating a unique body of knowledge which allows for astrologers to interpret charts from many different perspectives and levels (physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual). 

The language of astrology is comprised of signs, planets, aspects and houses.  With an accurate birth time, along with date and place of birth, a chart can be drawn up that will serve as the basis for all interpretation.   Transiting planets help to explore any point in time as well as all lifecycles and processes that encourage each of us to grow and change.  In terms of relationships, charts can be compared to explore the dynamics between two people.  These are called compatibility charts and are used to assist couples and families at times of transition whether that is marriage, births or challenging periods in life.  All in all, astrology is a tool which can help each of us learn more about ourselves, our loved ones and the world around us.
